What is an escape room?

An escape room (also called an escape game or a room escape game; Russian speakers call it a quest) is a live adventure game for a team. Here is how it works at LOST: a door locks behind you, and your team has exactly 70 minutes to get out. In that time you decipher puzzles, find hidden items, collect keys, connect the clues and open the door to victory. It feels like a sophisticated video game, or the good old board games, except that you play it in real time, inside a real set.

Our game is for groups only (a couple counts as a team), because you win only by working together. That makes it a good night out for classmates, coworkers from different countries or family visiting from abroad: everyone has a part to play, and the win belongs to all of you.

You will find escape rooms all over Israel, from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to Haifa. LOST, in Kiryat Bialik in the Krayot, 10 minutes from Haifa, has one theme: horror. Its two escape rooms are built as horror film sets, with props, puppets, effects and sound. Whether you are a visitor traveling north, an international student at the Technion or the University of Haifa, a new oleh or part of an English-speaking team at work, this guide covers what you need to know before you book.

And you don’t have to love horror. Each room has three fear levels, and the level never changes the story or the puzzles: it only changes how close the nightmare gets.

How a game at LOST runs

  1. Book. Choose a room, a day and a time in the booking calendar, and pick the fear level in the booking form. We are open every day from 18:30 to 05:00. Need a different time? We can usually arrange one in advance, subject to availability: send a request through the calendar and we will get back to you.
  2. Arrive on time, not early. Come exactly at the time of your booking. It already allows for the briefing, a coffee and the restroom, so there is no point in coming early: you would only wait outside.
  3. The briefing. Before you go in, a short briefing explains how the game works.
  4. Phones in a locker. Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the rooms. We keep your belongings in a secure locker until the game ends.
  5. The game. About 70 minutes straight inside the set: puzzles you solve together, surprises and a full story, all in real time. The puzzles are complex, fun and challenging. At every fear level your group has a safe word: say it, and the game stops at once.
  6. The debrief. After the game comes a debrief, which, like the briefing, is part of the ticket.

The briefing in English

We give the briefing in English, Hebrew, Russian or Arabic, so nobody in your group has to translate the rules for the others: just ask for English. The site is in English too, with the rooms, the prices, answers to common questions and the booking calendar. Have a question before you book? Call us at 058-6777333 or message us on WhatsApp.

How to choose the best escape room for your group

There is no single best escape room in Israel. The best one for you is the one that fits your group: its appetite for a challenge, its nerves and its size. At LOST you make three choices, and you make all of them when you book.

The room

Both rooms are highly elaborate and of the same quality, and at the scariest level both are very scary. The difference lies in the story and in how the game is built.

Our impressionSlightly easier, and a little scarierHarder, and needs more teamwork

That is our impression from experience; some people find the other room scarier. Read more about each one: The Last Scream and Friday the 13th.

The fear level

  • Not scary at all. The same set and the same puzzles in full light: no actor, no jump scares and no frightening characters. Good for families and kids.
  • Medium fear. Effects, surprises and jump scares: scary and startling, but with no guest actor in the room.
  • Scariest. A professional guest actor throughout the game, the lights off most of the time, 3D sound and light physical contact. For an extra fee.

A tip: choose the level for the most easily startled person in your group, not for the bravest. Coming with kids? Tell us in advance who is coming, and we will tune the scary levels to your group. For what each level feels like from the inside, see our guide to scary escape rooms in Israel.

Group size and the occasion

Every game takes 2 to 15 participants, and it is a private game: just you and your friends in the room. A bigger group can play both rooms side by side, with a host by each group’s side, and carry on the party afterwards in our covered yard, which holds an event of up to 35 people, by arrangement. The occasion is up to you: a birthday, team building, a bachelor or bachelorette party, a marriage proposal or simply a night out with the crew. Companies get an invoice and a receipt. For more ideas, see our guides to team building in Haifa and things to do in Haifa at night.

Escape room prices at LOST

The price is per person, and it drops as your group grows:

  • 2 players: 350 ₪ per person
  • 3 players: 240 ₪ per person
  • 4 players: 180 ₪ per person
  • 5 players and up: 150 ₪ per person

The ticket covers the full game: 70 minutes inside the set, a briefing before and a debrief after, at any of the three fear levels. There are only two extras: the guest actor at the scariest level (50 ₪ for a group of 2 to 4, or 10 ₪ per player for 5 or more) and, if you want one, a keepsake video of your game (100 ₪ per group). You pay on site, in cash or by card; online you only leave a card as a deposit. See your group’s total in the price list, then pick a time in the calendar.
