Scary escape rooms in Israel: horror with a live actor near Haifa
A scary escape room is a puzzle game inside a horror story: darkness, sound and jump scares. LOST, 10 minutes from Haifa, has two horror rooms, each with three fear levels, from not scary at all to a live actor beside you.

What makes an escape room scary
Escape rooms, also called escape games, are live games for a team: a door locks behind you, and you have a set time to solve puzzles, find hidden items and complete the mission. At LOST you get 70 minutes, a little over one hour. The format suits horror so well that Hollywood turned it into a psychological horror film, Escape Room (2019). A horror escape room does the reverse: it keeps the game and builds the film around you. The genre has given us every kind of villain, from ghosts and zombies to the masked serial killer, and inside the room four things do most of the work:
- The story and the set. You are not watching a horror film. You are inside one, and the villain is somewhere close.
- Darkness and noise. When the lighting is low, your imagination fills in what you cannot see, and every sound from the next room becomes a threat.
- Jump scares and effects. A scare lands hardest when the whole team is bent over the next puzzle.
- A live actor. A real person in character, right next to you. No effect gets closer than that.
The good news is that you choose how much of it you get. At LOST the story and the puzzles stay the same at every level, and you decide how close the nightmare gets.
Three fear levels, from not scary at all to a guest actor
Both rooms at LOST have three fear levels. You choose yours when you book, and at any level the ticket covers the full game: 70 minutes inside the set, a briefing before and a debrief after.
| Level | What happens inside | Guest actor | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 · Not scary at all | The same set and the same puzzles in full light, with no jump scares and no frightening characters | No | Families, kids and anyone who wants the game without the fear |
| 02 · Medium fear | Effects, surprises and jump scares: scary and startling | No | First-timers and mixed groups |
| 03 · Scariest | The lights off most of the time, 3D sound and light physical contact | Yes, a professional actor throughout the game: an extra 50 ₪ for a group of 2 to 4, or 10 ₪ a player for 5 or more | Horror fans who came for the adrenaline |
Every group has a safe word, at every level. If anything feels wrong, say it, and the game stops at once.
Choosing a fear level for your group
Choose for the most nervous person in the group, not the bravest. If one of you spends 70 minutes wishing they were outside, nobody plays well, and the puzzles need everyone.
- With kids or the family: not scary at all, the version made for families and kids. Want a little more? Tell us in advance who is coming, and we will tune the scary levels to your group.
- Your first horror room, or someone is unsure: medium fear. You get the jump scares, without a guest actor in the room.
- A crew raised on horror films: the scariest level. The professional guest actor inside the set gives a once-in-a-lifetime performance, and it is the most intense experience of the three.
- A birthday celebration: horror makes a great party. Set the level by the birthday person and the most cautious guests; a covered yard can keep the party going afterwards, by arrangement.
- Team-building: pick a level that works for the whole team, so everyone stays in the game. Big groups can play both rooms side by side; our guide to team building in Haifa has the details.

Two horror escape rooms near Haifa
Looking for a scary escape room in Haifa or elsewhere in Israel’s north? LOST is in Kiryat Bialik, in the Krayot, 10 minutes from the city. Its two rooms are two different games: both highly elaborate, built to the same quality, and both very scary at the scariest level. What sets them apart is the story and the difficulty. Either way, you reserve the game exclusively for your group, from 2 players up to 15.
The Last Scream: one house, one mask
The set of one horror film, seven connected spaces, and the masked killer already inside. Casey’s house hides the way to stop him. To find it, you connect clues, solve puzzles and move together from space to space. Every clue brings you closer to the answer. Every moment brings him closer to you, and nobody wants to be his next victim. This room is considered slightly easier than the other one, and a little scarier. See The Last Scream.
Friday the 13th: five horror films in one game
You crack a puzzle, move on, and find the film has changed: a new world, a different set and a new challenge waiting for your crew. To find the way out, you pass through all five worlds together. This is considered the harder room, and it asks for more teamwork, so it suits groups who want to think as hard as they scream. See Friday the 13th.
| Compare | The Last Scream | Friday the 13th |
|---|---|---|
| Story | One horror film, seven connected spaces | Five horror films, five worlds |
| Difficulty | Hard | Very hard |
| Success rate | 35% | 35% |
| Record time | 68 minutes | 68 minutes |
| Game time | 70 minutes | 70 minutes |
| Players | 2 to 15 | 2 to 15 |
The record in both rooms is 68 minutes, so no team has escaped in under 60 minutes. Which room is scarier is only our impression from experience: some people get more frightened in the other one.
Before you go: tips for your first scary escape room
Booking and the night of the game
- Book early. We are open every day from 18:30 to 05:00, so a horror game makes a natural late plan (more ideas in things to do in Haifa at night). Reserve as far ahead as you can to get the day and time you want; free sessions are in the booking calendar.
- Arrive exactly at your booked time. That time covers a proper briefing, a few minutes for a coffee and the restroom, and your full 70 minutes. Coming early only means waiting outside, and arriving late may shorten your game, because we never cut into the next group’s time.
- Leave your phone outside. Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the rooms; we lock your belongings in a secure locker until the game ends. Want the night on camera? A keepsake video of your game is an extra 100 ₪ per group.
- Plan your route. We are at 3 Yosef Levi St., Kiryat Bialik, with free parking at the entrance and the Metronit and buses a short walk away. Coming up from Tel Aviv? We are open until 05:00, so a late game still fits after dinner. Map and directions.
Who it is not for
- Solo players. The game is for groups only (a couple counts as a team), from 2 to 15 players.
- Anyone who hates the dark or being touched. Skip the scariest level, where the lights are off most of the time and there is light physical contact. Not scary at all is played in full light, and medium fear has no guest actor.
- Anyone expecting an easy stroll. The rooms are rated hard and very hard, and the success rate is 35%.
If someone in your group has a health concern or limited mobility, write to us before you book. And at any level, if someone feels physical distress or simply wants out, the safe word stops the game at once.
Frequently asked questions
How scary is a horror escape room, really?
At LOST, you decide: anything from full light with no frightening characters to the lights off most of the time and a professional guest actor beside you from start to finish. The safe word works at every level.
Can we bring kids to a scary escape room?
Yes. The not-scary-at-all level is a version for families and kids, on the same set and with the same puzzles, and with no frightening characters. Tell us in advance who is coming.
Can we get the briefing in English?
Yes. The briefing before the game is given in English, Hebrew, Russian and Arabic. For the wider picture, read our guide to escape rooms in Israel.
How much does it cost, and how do we book?
The price is per person and drops as your group grows: 350 ₪ each for two, 240 ₪ for three, 180 ₪ for four and 150 ₪ for five or more (all prices). You pay on site, in cash or by card; online you only leave a card as a deposit. To book, open the calendar, choose a room and a time, then pick the fear level in the booking form.
